Challenge

 

Seco Tools manufactures tooling for CNC and lathe manufacturing operations. The company has an on-going commitment to both continuous improvement and lean manufacturing. . It was recognized that production performance visibility needed to be real time in order to take their continuous improvement programs to the next level.  OEE was recognized as an important metric to measure operations but the information was captured manually and reporting although extensive was not timely.  

 

Solution


Seco implemented VersaCall’s wireless VT2000 System with Data Input modules in phases at each of the CNC machines that automatically captures - counts, downtime, scrap and machine uptime and availability. VersaCall’s Virtual Panel II Software displays production floor performance by production run- real time.

Automatically capturing downtime by reason codes, run time and output count performance for each component production run for both manned and unmanned production sifts. Management is now has immediate visibility of production floor status and issues. The VersaCall System ties into the site’s CMMS software and automatically generates maintenance work order. Another key benefit has been the elimination of most manual data collection activities and related expenses.  OEE Reports are now available on a timely basis to further profile and trend production performance.
